Las Vegas Vipers
Las Vegas is primed for an NBA expansion team due to its proven success as a sports market, highlighted by the thriving Vegas Golden Knights (NHL) and Las Vegas Raiders (NFL). With a vibrant local fan base, world-class infrastructure like T-Mobile Arena, and the city’s global appeal as a tourist destination, Las Vegas offers the perfect setting for an NBA franchise. Its established basketball culture, showcased by the annual NBA Summer League, and growing reputation as a sports hub makes it an ideal location for the NBA’s next major expansion.
Primary Logo
The logo design process began with researching the Las Vegas area, ultimately drawing inspiration from the desert, where vipers reign supreme. I chose a color palette reflecting the vibrant Vegas nightlife to contrast the brown desert tones. Highlighted by a royal feeling red, a deep blue symbolizing the night sky, and a yellowish-brown mid tone add an earthy feel. Varying line weights contribute to the intense, dynamic energy I aimed for, while the bottom of the "V" cleverly represents a viper's tongue.

& Patterns
The custom typeface Viper Fang was designed to reflect the intensity of the logo and the sharpness of a viper's fangs while incorporating rounded edges to echo the smooth, sinuous form of a snake's body. Inspired by the mood boards, I created a pattern that captures a royal Vegas aesthetic and seamlessly integrated the bottom of the V logo snakes tongue for added cohesion. The patterns include a snake scale texture, a smooth rocky slate, and a smoky sky, enhancing the overall visual theme.
Environmental Mockups
The mockups below were created using the brand's style guide. Throughout the mockups, you may notice elements like the pattern on the side panels of the jerseys, the scaled texture and color on a branded ball, and a wood-grained snake pattern overlay on the court. These subtle details elevate the brand, adding a refined and distinctive touch.
The Las Vegas Vipers would strike with the intensity and precision of their namesake, delivering fierce NBA competition in the heart of the desert, where every game feels like a dangerous and thrilling encounter. Embodying the spirit of a place where the action never stops.
